Batch Configurations
Create, import, validate, and reuse saved design matrices in Batch Simulations.
A Batch Configuration stores the parameter combinations you want to simulate. Each column is an ambient or vehicle parameter. Each row is one design.
Enter the combinations yourself or import a spreadsheet. To generate every combination from parameter ranges instead, use Full Factorial in Batch Simulations.
Saving a configuration does not run it. You must load it into a batch and queue the simulations.
Before you start
- Select the team that should own the configuration.
- Confirm your role allows creating or editing modules.
- Check parameter units before entering or importing values.
Create a configuration
- Open Batch Configurations in the sidebar.
- Select New.
- In General, enter a Name and optional Notes and Tags.
- Select Next to open the design matrix.
- Select Add a parameter to start, then choose a parameter.
- Use Add parameter in the header to add more columns.
- Enter a numeric value in every cell. Each row defines one design.
- Select Add design for each additional combination.
- Select Validate and review any errors or warnings.
- Select Add Configuration to save.
To save, enter a name, add at least one parameter and design, and fill every cell with a finite number. Headers show parameter names and units. Hover over a header to see the canonical parameter path used for imports.
Use the column or row menu to Delete parameter or Delete design. You cannot delete the last design row. Above 50 designs, use Previous and Next to move between pages.
Import a spreadsheet
- Prepare a CSV, TSV, or XLSX file.
- Put canonical parameter paths in the first row, one per column. Use the paths shown when hovering over matrix headers, not display labels or units.
- Put one design on each following row, with a number in every cell.
- Select Import in the matrix toolbar and choose the file.
- Review the parameter and design counts, or correct the reported file errors.
- Select Replace matrix.
- Review validation results and save the configuration.
Import replaces the entire matrix. It does not append rows.
Files can contain up to 999 designs. Each header must be a recognized parameter path, with no blank or duplicate headers. Every design must match the header's column count and contain a finite number in every cell.
Validate and edit
Open a saved configuration from the list to edit its name, notes, or matrix, then select Save Changes. Tags on an existing configuration save separately when added or removed.
Select Validate to see errors and warnings, with highlights on the affected cells or rows. Validate again after editing the matrix. The previous results no longer describe your changes.
Use the list's row actions to duplicate or delete a configuration. Review the confirmation before deleting.
Use a configuration in a batch
- Create or open a pending Batch Simulation.
- Complete Setup and Simulation Settings.
- In Design Space, select Batch Configuration instead of Full Factorial.
- Choose a saved Configuration. Configurations without designs cannot be selected.
- Select Next to validate the configuration against the batch's vehicle and ambient and copy its designs into the batch.
- If replacing existing designs, review the replacement confirmation.
- In Simulations, review the rows and choose which designs to include.
- Select Queue Simulations, review the cost and credits, then confirm.
If Configuration does not match this batch appears, fix the listed issues. Validation checks the matrix against the vehicle and ambient selected for this batch.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Cannot save or validate | Enter a name, add a parameter and design, and fill every cell with a finite number. |
| Import reports an unknown header | Use the exact canonical parameter path, not its display label. |
| Import reports a row length or numeric error | Match the header's column count and remove empty cells or unit text. |
| Validation results are stale | Select Validate again after your last edit. |
| Configuration cannot be used in a batch | Check its designs and the validation issues for the selected vehicle and ambient. |
| Editing controls are unavailable | Check your module permissions with a team administrator. |
